The Year of the Water Rabbit – a little background

According to the Chinese Zodiac, we are all assigned a powerful animal based on the year we are born.

There is the legend of the Great Jade Emperor, Yu Di, who was the ruler of the heavens. He wanted to devise a way to measure time. In order to do so he organised a race, where he challenged all the animals to cross the mighty river.

The first twelve animals who crossed the river, would earn a spot on the calendar and zodiac and become guards of his heavenly realm.

The first to cross the river was the Rat … and the last to make it across was the Boar/Pig (which happens to be my Lunar Astrology sign – I am an Earth Boar). The Rabbit was the fourth animal to make it across the river.

Later in this article I’ll share the animals in order and what the Chinese astrologers say is in store for your year.

Water is associated with emotion, flexibility, and adaptability.
